“The Looking-glass self”, is a sociological concept created by Charles Horton Cooley in the year 1902. This concept states that our concept of self grows out from our beliefs about how others perceive us. Humans are social animals and we thrive in socialization. These interactions become a ground or foundation of beliefs about certain things and the development of our concept of self also grows from these social interactions. These interpersonal social interactions influence our way of thinking and we shape ourselves in accordance with these perceptions.
